The challenge
What hospitality are facing
Multi-property tracking is messy
Each property has different energy suppliers, metering setups, and building types. A hotel portfolio of 20 properties means 20 different data sources with 20 different reporting cycles.
Corporate clients want carbon-per-night
Major corporate travel programmes now require HCMI-methodology carbon data per guest night. If you can't provide it, those bookings go to competitors who can.
Seasonal variation makes benchmarking hard
Energy use in January is completely different from August. Occupancy-adjusted intensity metrics are essential for meaningful year-on-year comparison, but most spreadsheet approaches can't handle this.
UK SDR is coming
The UK Sustainability Disclosure Requirements will expand disclosure requirements beyond SECR. Hotels with significant energy use will face more granular reporting obligations.
40% of corporate travel programmes now require carbon-per-night data from hotels. Without it, you lose those bookings.
The solution
How Climatise helps
Property-by-property tracking
Every property gets its own dashboard. Roll up to portfolio level or drill down to individual sites.
See this feature →HCMI carbon-per-night
Calculate carbon intensity per guest night using HCMI methodology. Export the data corporate clients need for their travel programmes.
Occupancy-adjusted benchmarking
Compare properties on a like-for-like basis using occupancy-adjusted intensity ratios, not raw totals.
Portfolio-wide reporting
SECR report covering your entire portfolio, generated from data already in the platform.

Hospitality carbon reporting FAQ
The Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative is a methodology developed by the International Tourism Partnership for calculating carbon emissions per guest night. Major corporate travel programmes use HCMI as the standard for comparing hotel sustainability performance.
If your hotel group meets the SECR thresholds (250+ employees, £36m+ turnover, £18m+ balance sheet), yes. Most hotel groups with 5+ properties meet these thresholds.
Climatise uses monthly data to capture seasonal patterns. Intensity metrics are calculated per guest night (or per available room), so you get meaningful year-on-year comparisons that account for occupancy differences.
