Most ESOS providers ran Phase 3 the same way they ran Phase 2: a four-yearly project, run out of spreadsheets, with the action plan filed and quietly forgotten. Phase 4 is where that stops working, because the progress your client promised now has to be reported inside the assessment itself, and explained where it's missed.
PU2 lands on 5 December 2026 and Phase 4 business development is already happening, which means most consultancies have a live deliverable in flight in the next six months. This webinar shows the workflow we've built for it.
What we'll cover
We'll start with what we know about Phase 4 so far: what's confirmed, what's still expected when the full guidance is published (early 2027, subject to parliamentary time), what didn't change, and where PU2 on 5 December 2026 sits.
From there we'll walk through the workflow on screen. Our platform is the data backbone for an ESOS engagement: client data collection, evidence pack, site-audit capture, assessment-stage build, MESOS notification, and the full report out the other end. One system of record instead of a folder of spreadsheets, emails and PDFs.
Then we'll look at the data overlap across the obligations your clients face. The same client dataset feeds ESOS, SECR, carbon and Scope 3 reporting off one collection effort, which is what turns a four-yearly audit relationship into a multi-report one, and what lets the client log into a dashboard under your brand instead of waiting on a four-yearly email.
We'll also cover the patterns we see most often that cause problems in Phase 4, like action plans written for filing rather than tracking, inconsistent organisational boundaries between a client's ESOS and SECR reports, generic recommendations carried over from Phase 3, and evidence captured in email threads that won't hold up as a defensible audit trail. Finally, we'll show what it looks like at portfolio scale: a single view across the service-line book, with status, action-plan progress, evidence gaps, and team capacity all in one place.
Who should attend
This session is for the people running ESOS service lines: Partners, MDs, Practice Directors, Service-Line Leads, and Lead Assessors at ESOS-accredited consultancies, energy brokers, energy procurement firms, and sustainability practices.
If your firm holds ESOS accreditations and you already have Phase 4 deals in your pipeline, this session is built for you.
What you'll take away
Phase 4 isn't a repeat of Phase 3. The action plan has moved from a filing exercise to a live deliverable, and the spreadsheet-led approach most firms used last time is now the bottleneck, not the workflow.
The buying window is already open. Most obligated clients are choosing their Lead Assessor now, not in 2027. The firms with a defensible Phase 4 workflow on the page win the BD conversations the rest are still trying to scope.
One ESOS engagement is a multi-report relationship if you let it be. ESOS, SECR, carbon and Scope 3 share the same data spine, and a single collection effort across the four-year cycle is what turns a four-yearly client into a retained one.
The client experience is the product now. A branded dashboard the client logs into beats a PDF emailed every four years, and your peers are already building toward that. Differentiation in Phase 4 lives in the deliverable, not the pitch.
Practice leaders win or lose at portfolio scale. You don't need another per-client dashboard; you need to see the whole book on one page: who's on track for PU2, who's at risk, and where the team's hours are going. That's the view that makes the next hiring decision obvious.
