Climate Adaptation

Climate adaptation is the process of adjusting to the current and expected effects of climate change, reducing vulnerability and building resilience in operations, assets, and communities.

What is Climate Adaptation?

Even under the most ambitious emission reduction scenarios, some degree of climate change is already locked in. Adaptation involves identifying climate risks (flooding, heat stress, water scarcity, supply chain disruption) and implementing measures to reduce vulnerability. For businesses, this includes physical resilience (flood defences, cooling systems), operational resilience (supply chain diversification, business continuity planning), and financial resilience (insurance, scenario planning).

Practical Examples

1

A warehouse operator installs flood barriers and raises electrical equipment above potential flood levels after a climate risk assessment.

2

A food company diversifies its agricultural supply chain across multiple climate zones to reduce the impact of regional crop failures.

How Climatise Helps

Climatise provides the emissions and climate data context that supports adaptation planning, including site-level energy and emissions data for physical risk assessments.
